CHI/LAT GRAD FAQ'S

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

  • When is CHI LAT GRAD?

  • Save the date! Friday, June 13th, 2025, the celebration starts promptly at 6 pm. Doors for guests will open at 5 pm. If you are a registered participant please arrive between 4:30 pm - 5:45 pm.

  • What is the difference between CHI LAT GRAD and UC Davis Commencement?

  • The Annual Chicanx Latinx Graduation Celebration honors the personal and academic achievements of graduating students — both undergraduate and graduate — who identify as Chicanx or Latinx or are friends of the ChiLat community. This event differs from the UC Davis Commencement ceremonies held at the Golden 1 Center by providing an inclusive celebration that fully embraces the significance of each graduating student's experience. All students are welcome to attend and celebrate with their peers, family and friends. The celebration is bi-lingual and there is a $50 fee to participate.

More information about UC Davis Commencement can be found here - https://www.ucdavis.edu/commencement

  • Am I able to participate in multiple graduations if so, is there overlap?

  • Yes - CHI/LAT Graduation is completely separate from campus commencement. You can participate in one or the other, or you may also choose to participate in both. If you are participating in the Friday 2 pm UC Davis Commencement, you should head to Davis as soon as the Ceremony ends to get in the U Center by 5:45 pm.
  • Who can participate in CHI/LAT Graduation?

  • Anyone who has already graduated in Fall 2024 & Winter 2025, and all students who intend to graduate Spring 2025 and Summer 2025. All students are welcome to attend and celebrate with their peers.
  • How many tickets am I able to receive for CHI/LAT Graduation?

  • Each registered participant who has paid their $50 fee will receive 6 Guest Tickets. The participating Graduate DOES NOT need a ticket. Tickets are only for their invited guests. If you do not need all 6 of your tickets please email rxnflores@ucdavis.edu. Tickets will be distributed June 2nd to those who have paid.
  • How do we request extra tickets?

  • At this time, we do not foresee having any extra tickets to distribute as we have a waitlist of people who'd like to participate. If you do not need all 6 of your guest tickets, you can give away to your peers/friends who need them or email Roxanne (rxnflores@ucdavis.edu with the exact amount you'd like to give away. Feel free to email Roxanne with the number of extra tickets you need.

Please note - emailing Roxanne does not guarantee you will receive extra tickets. DO NOT purchase guest tickets from other participants.

  • Are participating graduates allowed to walk the stage with a guest or family member?

  • After the Class of 2022, we stopped allowing participants to walk across the stage with a family member or guest due to an increase in the number of participants which continues to grow each year.
