Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

  • What is the difference between CHI LAT GRAD and UC Davis Commencement?

  • CHI LAT GRAD is a culturally inclusive celebration that is student-led and hosted by El Centro. The celebration is bi-lingual and there is a fee to participate. Unlike Commencement which is an Official UC Davis Ceremony. More information about UC Davis Commencement can be found here - https://www.ucdavis.edu/commencement
  • Am I able to participate in multiple graduations if so, is there overlap? 

  • Yes - CHI/LAT Graduation is completely separate from campus commencement. You can participate in one or the other, or you may also choose to participate in both. More information to come when we release the date for CHI LAT GRAD.
  • Who can participate in CHI/LAT Graduation?

  • Anyone who has already graduated in Fall 2024 & Winter 2025, and all students who intend to graduate Spring 2025 and Summer 2025.
  • Can I resubmit my participation registration form?

  • If you would like to make any changes to your responses please email El Centro, at cclass@ucdavis.edu.
  • What if I don't know If I will be graduating until Spring Quarter 2025?

  • When you register for CHI/LAT Graduation, select “Maybe” and we will reach out to confirm your participation after the registration deadline.
  • How much does it cost to participate in CHI/LAT Graduation?

  • The cost will be $50.00 which includes stole, digital photos walking on stage, video recording of ceremony, lifetime memories with family.
  • How many tickets am I able to receive for CHI/LAT Graduation?

  • We won't know until the registration closes and we divide the # of total guest tickets by the # of registered participants. We estimate 4-5 guest tickets for the Class of 2025. The participating Graduate DOES NOT need a ticket. Tickets are only for their invited guests.
  • Are participating graduates allowed to walk the stage with a guest or family member?

  • After the Class of 2022, we stopped allowing participants to walk across the stage with a family member or guest due to an increase in the number of participants which continues to grow each year.
  • Are children able to attend?

  • Tickets are not required for children ages 2 and under. Age determination is handled by ticket-takers and security.
  • Will the ceremony be in Spanish?

  • Yes, this will be a bilingual ceremony and it will be in both English and Spanish. 
  • Where can I pay to participate?
  • When we are ready to receive payment for CHI LAT GRAD, we will send out detailed instructions via CHI LAT GRAD Listserv and IG Close Friends Group. 
  • What happens if I submit my registration but I don’t pay?
  • If you do not pay your participation fee you will be dropped from the list of participants. 
  • If I need to cancel my participation what should I do? Would I get a refund? What is the deadline to cancel? 
  • Please notify us as soon as possible via email at class@ucdavis.edu to submit your cancellation request. Unfortunately we are not able to process any refunds. 
  • I'm a faculty member/administrative staff member participating in the ceremony. What do I need to know?
  • Please contact Roxanne Flores at rxnflores@ucdavis.edu for information to participate in the stage party or to volunteer. There will be a call for stage party participants and volunteers by the end of April. 
  • What if a guest can’t attend the in-person event? Will it be Livestream?
  • There will be a recording available after the event. Please check back on our website after the event to access the recording or visit our YouTube Channel.
  • What accommodations are available for guests with limited mobility?
  • Please email Roxanne Flores at your earliest convenience at rxnflores@ucdavis.edu to provide details regarding the accommodation request. The day of the event, we will have volunteers at the guest entrance with a list of names of guests who need accommodations. They will guide guests to designated seats. 
  • How do we know if we registered for the CHI/LAT Graduation Celebration? Will we receive a confirmation email?
  • Qualtrics does not send out an email confirmation. Please screenshot the end of the survey and email cclass@ucdavis.edu with proof of registration. After April 11th, all registered people will be added to the "chilat listserv" which means that you have officially registered to participate.
